Nearest Bastion Remnants
Coordinates are Nether blocks (1 Nether block = 8 Overworld blocks).
Minecraft Bastion Finder
Find the nearest bastion remnants in your Minecraft world from its seed. Every result is an exact Nether coordinate pinned on the Nether biome map — click one to jump there, copy the coordinates, or grab a ready-made /tp command before you brave the piglins.
Since 1.20, the netherite upgrade smithing template makes bastions unskippable: no template, no netherite gear. Add Pigstep, gold blocks and netherite scrap and a bastion raid is the Nether's best payday — the finder makes sure you spend your time fighting brutes, not searching for the front door.
How to use the bastion finder
- Enter your seed — type or paste it into the seed box and press Go. Text seeds work too; they convert to numbers exactly like the in-game seed field.
- Match your version — pick the version your world was generated in. Structure positions change between versions, so this matters.
- Read the results — the nearest bastions appear in the panel, sorted by distance from the search point, each with exact coordinates.
- Jump to a result — click a result to center the map on it, then click the marker to copy its coordinates or a ready-made teleport command. Panned somewhere new? Press Search this area to look around the current view.
Frequently asked questions
- How do I find a bastion remnant from my seed?
- Enter your world seed and the finder lists the nearest bastion remnants with exact Nether coordinates. Click a result to center the map on it, then click the marker to copy the coordinates or a /tp command to use in the Nether.
- Where do bastion remnants generate?
- In every Nether biome except basalt deltas. The map on this page renders the Nether's biomes, so you can see at a glance whether a bastion sits in a crimson forest, a soul sand valley or somewhere nastier.
- What loot do bastions have?
- Bastions are the only place to find the Pigstep music disc and — since 1.20 — the netherite upgrade smithing template, which is guaranteed in the treasure room chest. Chests also hold gold, netherite scrap and enchanted gear, guarded by piglins and piglin brutes.
- Are these Nether or Overworld coordinates?
- Nether coordinates. Horizontal distance in the Nether is compressed 8 to 1 — one block traveled in the Nether equals eight in the Overworld — so multiply X/Z by 8 if you want to line up an Overworld portal above a bastion.
- Which versions have bastion remnants?
- Bastion remnants were added in Java 1.16 (the Nether Update), so the version selector on this page starts there. From 1.16 on, each Nether placement region generates either a bastion or a fortress — which is why the two never crowd the same spot.
- Does the bastion finder work for Bedrock Edition?
- Not yet — it supports Java Edition worldgen only. Bedrock worlds generate differently, so a Java result won't match a Bedrock world with the same seed.
