The finder pins each mineshaft's origin on the map with exact coordinates. Mineshafts are dense — the closest is rarely far — so this is less about hunting a rare structure and more about picking the most convenient tunnel to drop into. How to use the mineshaft finder

  1. Enter your seed — type or paste it into the seed box and press Go. Text seeds work too; they convert to numbers exactly like the in-game seed field.
  2. Match your version — pick the version your world was generated in. Structure positions change between versions, so this matters.
  3. Read the results — the nearest mineshafts appear in the panel, sorted by distance from the search point, each with exact coordinates.
  4. Jump to a result — click a result to center the map on it, then click the marker to copy its coordinates or a ready-made teleport command. Panned somewhere new? Press Search this area to look around the current view.

What's inside an abandoned mineshaft

A mineshaft is a maze of oak-planked corridors, fences, and log supports, connected by rails and dotted with minecart chests. The chests carry rails, torches, and name tags alongside iron, gold, lapis, redstone, and the occasional diamond or enchanted book — a dependable early-game haul. Wherever you see corridors choked with cobwebs, a cave spider spawner is close; those passages hold the richest chests, but the poison bite makes them the one real hazard, so light them up before you loot.

Regular vs. badlands mineshafts

Most mineshafts are built from oak and buried deep underground, winding down into the deepslate where diamonds and redstone are richest. Badlands (mesa) biomes generate a distinct variant — dark oak instead of oak, sitting right at the surface where the terrain often leaves whole sections open to the sky. Since these badlands shafts sit in the open and badlands terrain exposes extra gold ore, a mesa biome is one of the easiest places to raid a mineshaft without digging at all.
